Tony Fry interview

Tony Fry(79) was born in 1936, around the time that cars were starting to evolve, so I have interviewed him to ask him a series of questions about his cars.

Q1:What was your first car?
A:It was a 1934 Austin Seven. It had comfortable blow-up seats which tended to deflate within the time limit of 2 hours which meant blowing them up over and over, like mouth-to-mouth resusitation.

Q2:What did you like/dislike about that car?
A: What I particularly liked about it was its reliability. It was already 25 years old when I bought it for £25! I used to drive from Twyford, England to the Intelligence Corps HQ every weekend whilst doing my basic training.

Q3:How many cars have you owned? What were they?A:From memory I owned at least 23 cars: Austin 7, Armstrong Siddeley, Austin 10 (2), Renault 4 (2), Peugeot 205, Minis (3), Vauxhall Cavalier, VW Cabriolet, VW Saloon, Mazda MX5 (4), Fords (various) including a posh cabriolet and now the latest Citroen DS3.

Q4:What car do you want to buyA:I would love to have a Mercedes Benz 220 SL sports car, "so what are you going to do about it"!

Thank you Tony Fry (grandpa) for your time!

Volvo Amazon Part 2

Volvo Amazon

This Volvo Amazon is a is a 3-door, 4-seater sedan model. There were 3 models of the Amazon; the first one is this three-door sedan, the second one was a five-door sedan and the last was a classic station wagon. The Volvo Amazon was first shown in April 1956 at the New York International Auto Show. The thing that stood out with this car was that it was the first ever car to have standard seat belts in the front two seats. Production was stopped in 1970 when cars were becoming a bit more classy and technical, but unfortunately Volvo wasn't very good at that and started producing big, ugly, boring cars like the 850 R. But a few years ago Volvo made a miraculous come-back by making much better cars like the V60 and the V40. This car was a forgotten treasure that is still to be found; and even though it is an old and tired car, it still has its charm!

Volvo Amazon Part 1

Volvo Amazon

The Volvo Amazon was my Dad's first car so this post in behalf of him (he is still alive). This car to me looks majestic and strong and the same time as civilised and luxurious. It is something a wealthy middle-aged man would turn up in at a posh  restaurant with his beautiful wife, but yet still have no idea what wine to order.

Jaguar F-Type Coupe

Jaguar F-Type Coupe

The Jaguar F-Type has been my favourite car ever since I first saw it! Just looking at it makes you shiver, and it is not some fast, exotic expensive sports car that is too big to fit on a regular city street. It is a a good size; delightful to drive; and, for what you're given, it is really not that expensive! Top Gear ex-presenter Jeremy Clarkson said that this car was "sodding good"! And I agree!!

Information

Price: £60,250
Power: 380 BHP which gives
it a top speed of 171 MPH so
0-60 takes only 4.9 seconds
Miles Per Gallon: 31.8
Torque: 339

Structure: It is a 3-door,
two-seater sports car. With
a powerful V6 supercharged
engine. Manual and electric
gear-box.

Colours: It comes in black,
white, purple, orange, grey
and red.

Citroen Toad Part 2

The Citroen Toad's real name is the DS. I have no idea what "DS" stands but one thing I do know is that the Citroen DS is famous for it's, at the time, futuristic suspension. As you might be able to see, when parked the DS's rear end is very close to the ground. Although when you begin to drive the rear end lifts up and turns into a normal car. This designing and engineering was done by Italian sculptor and industrial designer Flaminio Bertoni and the French aeronautical engineer André Lefèbvre. This design is the reason the car is so comfy and fun to drive

Now this technology is almost normal for us in 2015 and can be done to almost any car if needed but back in 1955 this technology was a sensation. It was first released in 1955 at the Paris Motor Show. It was so popular that after only 15 minutes, 743 were sold and after the whole day more than 12000 were sold in total! These purchases were all part of the grand total of 1,455,000 purchases!!

The car is a four door, front engine, front wheel drive mid-sized car. It has 80 hp and weighs 1.2 tons! Thank you for reading this post an hope you enjoyed it!!

Citroen Toad Part 1

Hi Viewers, check out this classic Citroen "Toad"!
I find that this car is a scary but funky little car,
and although it is a bit common and old it has a lot of character!
And it resembles a toad in so many ways

John Cooper

John Cooper (as in Mini "Cooper")
(As a middle-aged man)

John Cooper was an extraordinary man! He started out in life helping his father: Charles Cooper, in his small garage called Cooper Car Company which maintained racing cars. Then John left school at the age of 15 during the 2nd World War and severed with the Royal Air Force as an instrument maker. After the war John helped his father make racing cars and was soon very successful! One car they made was designed with a rear engine which was a first for Cooper Car Company. This was the beginning of success! These cars were used in the F1, Grand Prix and even Indianapolis Race in the US. John drove his cars for a lot of races but then all of the famous drivers (Bruce McLaren, Stirling Moss) of the time were all driving Cooper Cars. For the British Motor Corporation John developed the legendary MINI- Mini Cooper- which became extremely popular. It was so popular that Rover bought BMC, but then went broke and was eventually bought by BMW. MINI was a huge success for BMW and on behalf of John Cooper the Mini Cooper was made. And today the Mini Cooper is still a revolution to the Car Industry and even the modern day Minis are incredible, light and characterful!

Porsche 911 Carrera S

The Porsche 911 S makes an amazing noise and
is a magnificent sight. It is a fast, elegant lion.
For a Porsche it's not too expensive and the one thing
I love about 911 is that they have modernised the old
Porsche but have kept the same look, the look of power and pride
