Citroen Toad Part 2

The Citroen Toad's real name is the DS. I have no idea what "DS" stands but one thing I do know is that the Citroen DS is famous for it's, at the time, futuristic suspension. As you might be able to see, when parked the DS's rear end is very close to the ground. Although when you begin to drive the rear end lifts up and turns into a normal car. This designing and engineering was done by Italian sculptor and industrial designer Flaminio Bertoni and the French aeronautical engineer André Lefèbvre. This design is the reason the car is so comfy and fun to drive

Now this technology is almost normal for us in 2015 and can be done to almost any car if needed but back in 1955 this technology was a sensation. It was first released in 1955 at the Paris Motor Show. It was so popular that after only 15 minutes, 743 were sold and after the whole day more than 12000 were sold in total! These purchases were all part of the grand total of 1,455,000 purchases!!

The car is a four door, front engine, front wheel drive mid-sized car. It has 80 hp and weighs 1.2 tons! Thank you for reading this post an hope you enjoyed it!!

Citroen Toad Part 1

Hi Viewers, check out this classic Citroen "Toad"!
I find that this car is a scary but funky little car,
and although it is a bit common and old it has a lot of character!
And it resembles a toad in so many ways

John Cooper

John Cooper (as in Mini "Cooper")
(As a middle-aged man)

John Cooper was an extraordinary man! He started out in life helping his father: Charles Cooper, in his small garage called Cooper Car Company which maintained racing cars. Then John left school at the age of 15 during the 2nd World War and severed with the Royal Air Force as an instrument maker. After the war John helped his father make racing cars and was soon very successful! One car they made was designed with a rear engine which was a first for Cooper Car Company. This was the beginning of success! These cars were used in the F1, Grand Prix and even Indianapolis Race in the US. John drove his cars for a lot of races but then all of the famous drivers (Bruce McLaren, Stirling Moss) of the time were all driving Cooper Cars. For the British Motor Corporation John developed the legendary MINI- Mini Cooper- which became extremely popular. It was so popular that Rover bought BMC, but then went broke and was eventually bought by BMW. MINI was a huge success for BMW and on behalf of John Cooper the Mini Cooper was made. And today the Mini Cooper is still a revolution to the Car Industry and even the modern day Minis are incredible, light and characterful!
